Before You Fit Your Extensions

Everything you need to know before fitting your Bio-Protein Fibre extensions.
We always recommend professional fitting for the most natural finish and the best long-term results. If you decide to fit them yourself, please follow the guidance below carefully.
We recommend applying your extensions using the Tape-In Sandwich Method, as this is the recommended technique for achieving a secure hold, the most natural finish and the best overall performance from your extensions.
Before applying your extensions, your hair must be completely clean and completely dry. Wash your hair using a clarifying shampoo only, and avoid using conditioner, oils, hair masks or any other products on the roots before application. This allows the adhesive bonds to grip the hair properly and achieve the best possible hold.

We recommend having your extensions maintained every 4–6 weeks to keep them secure, comfortable, and in the best condition.

After cutting the wefts, it is normal for a small amount of hair to shed from the cut areas. Brush the cut areas well before application to remove any loose hair and help prevent shedding afterwards.

Bio-Protein Fibre Hair can be heat-styled to create waves, curls and sleek looks. However, unlike natural human hair, the fibre responds to heat differently and requires a specific heat-setting technique for curls and waves to form and hold.

We recommend using heated styling tools at a temperature of up to 150°C. Lower temperatures can help maintain the smooth texture, softness and shine of the fibre.

Always apply a heat protectant before using heated styling tools and avoid applying direct heat to the tape bonds.

How to Create Curls & Waves

Creating curls and waves with Bio-Protein Fibre Hair is different from styling natural human hair.

To create a curl or wave, shape the fibre while it is hot, then immediately hold or secure the curl in position for at least 20 seconds while it cools completely. This cooling process allows the fibre to set into its new shape.

Once the fibre has cooled and set, the curl or wave can be released. The finished result may vary depending on the styling technique, styling tool, temperature, section size and individual styling process.

For the best results, we strongly recommend following our styling tutorial carefully before attempting to create curls or waves.

Important: Styling Results

All styling videos and demonstrations shown on our website are created using the same Bio-Protein Fibre Hair supplied with your order. The demonstrations therefore show what can be achieved when using the recommended heat-styling technique.

However, we cannot guarantee a specific heat-styling result, as the outcome can vary depending on the styling technique, tools, temperature, section size and individual styling process.

For this reason, we recommend watching the full tutorial and following the demonstrated technique carefully when styling your extensions.

Restyling

Once the fibre has cooled and the desired shape has been set, the hair can be restyled. Curls and waves can be brushed out or reshaped, and the fibre can also be straightened again using heated styling tools at temperatures of up to 150°C.

Using the recommended temperature, heat protection and styling technique will help maintain the quality, softness and longevity of your Bio-Protein Fibre Hair.

Watch our styling tutorial before attempting to create curls or waves.

We recommend having your extensions maintained every 4–6 weeks to keep them secure, comfortable, and in the best condition.

🧴 Washing & Conditioning

To keep your Bio-Protein Fibre Hair soft, smooth and looking its best:

  • Use a sulphate-free shampoo.
  • Choose a moisturising or smoothing conditioner.
  • Apply conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the tape bonds.
  • Always use a heat protectant before using any heated styling tools.
  • Gently pat the hair dry with a towel — never rub.

We recommend using sulphate-free hair care products to help maintain the softness, shine and longevity of your extensions.

With the right care, your Bio-Protein Fibre Hair will maintain its softness, smooth finish and natural movement for longer.

🪮 Brushing

  • Use a soft-bristle or extension brush.
  • Brush your hair 2–3 times a day.
  • Start at the ends and work your way up.
  • Hold the weft securely when brushing near the tape area.

Gentle brushing helps maintain fullness, prevents tangling, and keeps your Bio-Protein Fibre Hair looking its best.

🛏 Night Care

For optimal overnight protection:

  • Tie your hair in a loose braid or low ponytail.
  • Never sleep with wet hair.
  • Wear a satin or silk bonnet.
  • Alternatively, sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase to minimise friction.

Satin and silk help reduce friction, dryness, frizz and tangling, keeping your Bio-Protein Fibre Hair smooth, healthy-looking and beautiful for longer.

🔁 Tape Maintenance

Cleaning, Refreshing & Reapplying Your Extensions
To keep your Bio-Protein Fibre Tape-In Wefts secure, comfortable, and performing at their best, we recommend having maintenance every 4–6 weeks. Regular maintenance helps preserve the adhesive's hold, protects your natural hair, and allows the wefts to be re-taped and reused multiple times with proper care.

Step 1 – Remove the Used Adhesive

  • Carefully peel away the used adhesive tape from the weft.
  • If any residue remains, use a professional adhesive remover designed for tape-in hair extensions.
  • Apply a small amount and gently remove the residue using your fingers or a soft cloth.
  • Avoid scraping the weft base or pulling the fibres, as this may cause damage.
  • Ensure the weft base is completely clean before proceeding.

Step 2 – Prepare the Wefts & Natural Hair

  • Once all adhesive residue has been removed, clean the wefts if needed and allow them to dry completely.
  • Before reapplication, wash your natural hair using only a clarifying shampoo.
  • Do not apply conditioner, hair masks, oils, or any styling products to the roots.
  • Your hair must be 100% dry before application to ensure the strongest possible hold.

Step 3 – Apply New Tape

  • Use professional-grade replacement tape specifically designed for tape-in hair extensions.
  • Firmly apply the new adhesive strip to the clean, dry weft base.
  • Press firmly along the entire strip to ensure a secure bond.
  • For the best results, we recommend having your extensions fitted by a qualified stylist.

💎 Professional Advice

Only reapply the tape once both the wefts and your natural hair are completely clean and dry.
Incorrect removal or reapplication may reduce the adhesive's strength and longevity.
With proper care and regular maintenance every 4–6 weeks, your Bio-Protein Fibre Tape-In Wefts can be re-taped and reused multiple times.

⏳ Longevity

With proper care, your Bio-Protein Fibre Hair extensions will maintain their softness, thickness and natural movement for several months.
